I am a Christian. I am also a daughter, artist, friend, sister, photographer, university student, pianist.
Staunch faith is not blind faith. I am not religious. I follow the teachings of Christ, and that's as simple as it can get.
Jesus never liked nor taught nor encouraged religon. Being a Christian is not something that is meant for you to tell people, or something that you scrawl in the blank asking you to list your religon when you are filling in administrative or registration forms.
True Christianity is not merely a religion. Being religious is not the same as being a Christian.
It is about how you conduct yourself in your life, and whether you have a personal relationship with God.
If I say I love all men and God, but yet I kick the poor and needy to the kerb and have little compassion to other people in my life, then being a christian has become merely a religion for me.
In other words, I believe the teachings of religion are true because I am a Christian, but it is more than that. The teaching is only the beginning to being a Christian, and the best testimonies are always seen, not heard.
I do not agree with the gay lifestyle, but I do not condemn the people who make a decision to lead such a life.
By the same token, endless pro-life versus pro-choice debates just seem silly. Why can't we all just see that it is not wise to hold extremist views? What about rape, incest, abuse, neglect?
...Who is to say whether being pro-life or pro-choice is right or wrong. We make a decision based on factors surrounding each situation. I make my decisions based on the direction that God wants me to take. Whatever decision I make, it's between me and God.
It's not our right to dictate to others according to our religious or personal beliefs.
Religious dogma does not have a place in my life. I do not treat you like a fool for your beliefs, regardless of whether I agree with them or otherwise: do not treat me like one for mine.
Free your mind, my friend.
Christianity is supposed to be about respect, love and helping others, not forcing some God down their throats or telling others they're not good enough. The whole point about that religion (to me, at least) is that I know I'm not good enough, and that is OK. I don't have to be perfect. If I had to, I would be screwed.

eelpotReligion causes so many problems because it is so institutionalised. I am a Christian in that I have a relationship with God, but if anyone else tried to tell me how to conduct that relationship, I would politely tell them it's really none of their business. By that same token, I would never dream of telling others how to.
